My Big Match Verdict

Its been a roller coaster of  season for city in 2011/2012 after starting like a house on fire at the begining of the season the city steam train was halted in the second half of the season with losses to Sunderland Everton Swansea and Arsenal .

With Manchester City trailing Manchester United by 8 points on Easter sunday it looked all over then suddenly Wigan claimed a shock win over the champions on a cold wednesday night in wigan and then suddenly the gap was 5 points then by 3pm Saturday afternoon the gap was cut to 2 points after city hammered Norwich 6-1 the result down to a  devastating performance from Argentine duo Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero .  United knew the pressure was on and they responded in typical fashion by handing down a beating to Aston Villa Wayne Rooney grabbed a double then Nani and Danny welbeck added further goals to compound the villans misery .

So the Gap was still 5 points and United had recovered from that shock loss at wigan . So City went away to Wolves and United were at home to Everton in the early kick off and the champions had a chance to open up a 8 point lead and give themselves the opportunity to win the title at the Etihad but the champions went behind to a goal from Jelavic then  Wayne Rooney  equalized for united and  they then took the lead through Danny Welbeck and doubled their lead through Nani before Felliani pulled one back for the evertonians and all of a sudden Jelavic volleyed in a equalizer to stun Old Trafford into silence .

United still had a goal lead and were confident of holding on despite the ressurgence from their oppenents but their confidence would be in vain as Everton pulled back another equalizer thanks to Steven Pienaar and that goal threw the title race wide open . So After Watching their rivals slip up at home to Everton the door was wide open for city to re enter the title race and gain some ground so would the citizen's take the lifeline offered to them ? they sure would they dispatched of wolves very easily thanks to goals from Sergio Aguero and Samir Nasri . All of a sudden the gap was 3 points and as fate would have it the very next game for both teams would be the Manchester Derby on the 30th with 3 points between both teams and a derby to play aswell the media attention on the game was immense with 650 million viewers anticapted for the match the pressure was truly on in the Biggest and most anticipated game in Premier league history .

Monday Night under the flood lights in front of the sky sports cameras both teams would do battle and it was city who came out on top thanks to a header from captain Vincent Kompany in added time of the first half . So City gained a valuable win to climb to the top of the table with 2 games remainings so how will they handle the pressure we will find out when they go away to Newcastle on Sunday live on Sky Sports at 1.30 pm also live national radio commentary on Talskport it should be a interesting game . Newcastle are fighting hard to gain fourth spot and city are fighting for the title so it should be eagerly anticipated this clash between two teams with a different set of ambitions but they will both be looking for one thing and that is a win to gain all 3 points .

After the game against Newcastle the blues entertain QPR at home with Mark Hughes trying to steer the londerners away from relegation it will be a tough ask at the Etihad but it wont be impossible however relegation looks on the cards for Mark Hughes's men as for Mancini and city they will be hoping to end up on 89 points come the end of the season to achieve that they require two wins out of two we shall see if they can do it every city fan around the country and globe will be hoping they gain the six points required .

So Manchester city went to the Sports Direct Arena on Sunday the scene of their league triumph 44 years ago it was known as St James's Park back then but a lot of things have changed since then and the mentality of city is something that has changed immensely . The old city would have crumbled in a cauldron like this they would have fell short but at the end of the game Mancini and his backroom staff stepped on the pitch to congratulate his troops on a job well done .

Yaya Toure was the man who made all the difference he came up with the goods when his team needed him his first goal was sublime and the second was simply superb . The Match changed with a clever substitution by Mancini and the change paid off big time he took of Nasri who was poor and he brought on De Jong that meant Yaya Toure would be pushed forward to play just behind Aguero and Dzeko who came on for Tevez the Bosnian helped give city another dimension to their play now city could find a target to hit if they struggled in defense and the Bosnian's main task was to make it stick and that's what he done and as De Jong kept things steady in midfield it was Yaya Toure who made the significant contribution with a magnificent curling effort beyond the finger tips of Tim Krul .

1-0 to city and 20 minutes left all they had to do was hold on to what they had but in typical city fashion they poured forward looking for another goal to seal the victory and with a minute of the 90 remaining Yaya Toure delivered the goal that put them within touching distance of the title the move started when Kompany headed a Newcastle corner away and it broke to Sergio Aguero who left a few defenders in his wake before finding Nigel De Jong in space who shifted it across to Gael Clichy and with a well timed nut meg clichy found Yaya Toure in space and he smashed it into the top corner of the net and there it was a 2 goal lead right at the end to give City a well deserved win  that bought a tear to the eye of city Legend Mike Summerbee .

And The citizens got that 1 required win against Qpr in the most dramatic style possible 2 goals in stoppage time to snatch the title from their fiercest rivals to deny them their 20th League title it just doesn't get any better here's a poem i wrote to commemorate that glorious Sunday
The day started with the sky blue and the sun shining as the city boys were arriving it kicked off and city started with an attacking purpose as the crowd were singing while being nervous but no break through would follow as united took the lead the stadium filled with a little sense of sorrow
then Zaba popped up with a strike as so city leaded the crowd in full voice just what the boys needed half time city in front then lescott slipped up as cisse equalized with united leading city dreams wouldn't be realized

Then Mackie put qpr in front so city need to put up a fight over at Wearside they started jumping with delight qpr still had the lead as it went injury time then Dzeko headed home to give city a lifeline united got their job done on Wearside

there fans started singing with pride the news filtered to the Etihad as the city faithful wondered why lady luck hates us THEN SERGIO SUDDENLY CAME IN TO SAVE US The Etihad ERUPTED  as Aguero scored to make united's dream go bust and  fergie couldn't hide his disgust 44 Years of pain and hurt was over now the parties going you want find a single blue that's sober

Blue Moon, You saw me standing alone
Without a dream in my heart
Without a love of my own

Blue Moon, You knew just what I was there for
You heard me saying a prayer for
Someone I could really care for

Then suddenly they'll appear before me
The only one my arms could ever hold
I heard someone whisper "Please adore me"
And when I looked my moon had turned to gold.

Blue Moon, now I'm no longer alone
I have a dream in my heart
I have a love of my own

... some additional verses were added in 2012 :-)

Blue Moon - You started singing our tune
You won't be singing for long
Because we beat you 6-1
Blue moon Number 20 not coming home

We've  gone and knocked of your throne
